About the Company
Elixir Wine commenced operations in 2008 with a focus on the importation of alcoholic beverages for the Swedish market. The company distributes alcoholic beverages to Systembolaget (the Swedish government monopoly responsible for the retail sale of alcohol), to Horeca (hotels, restaurants and catering) and other players in the industry who hold alcohol licences.
The company is wholly owned by Benny Nilsson and his wife Gunn-Marie Nilsson, who have each been dedicated wine enthusiasts since the early 1980’s. During this period Benny and Gunn-Marie have attended numerous wine exhibitions, visited wineries and actively participated in several wine tasting events organized by sommeliers and other professionals working in the wine industry. Along the way they have built up a private wine collection from producers all over the world.
The decision to form Elixir Wine was a natural step for the owners and has given them the possibility to work commercially with their greatest personal interest. That personal interest, along with a personal network that has been developed over the years, is now being used by Benny and Gunn-Marie to present the Swedish market with value for money products especially from producers that are not yet well established in Sweden.
Elixir Wine’s partnership with several of the companies detailed below has made the company aware of the lack of availability of Danish “Craft Beer” in the Swedish market. As a result, the company has focused in developing its internal skills in this regard in addition to developing connections with expert consultants in the industry and an established contact with a number of Danish specialist breweries. In December 2009 Elixir wines commenced the introduction of Danish specialist breweries to the Swedish market.

Elixir Wine has agreements in place with transport and logistics firms in both Sweden and Denmark. In this way Elixir Wine has complete flexibility and can offer all-inclusive solutions for the purchase, transport, storage and delivery of products. Outsourcing is a fundamental principle of the business – Benny and Gunn-Marie believe in letting each partner perform what they are the absolute best at doing
Elixir Wine is also a member of the network of companies who cooperating in Sweden’s Oresund region, including:
Andersson´s Beverage Group (link to come), a Danish importer of wine, spirits, water etc.;
Fish & Beer (www.fish-n-beer.dk), which has one of the best beer assortments on offer in Denmark – at Amager, just the other side of the Oresund Bridge (map) - along with a grocery business that supplies many of the Danish grocery store chains;
Lima Dragör vinhandel (www.Lima.dk) is a well established wine shop located on Dragörs small mall (map). Lima also has a wide assortment of high quality malt whisky and, amongst other things, is the “Official Duncan Taylor Malt Whisky Shop”. The company has a very flexible approach and can source products specifically on request of the customer. During summer their small garden is a popular location for the thirsty looking of a cold beer or the opportunity to participate in small, informal tastings of whisky, wine and other beverages;
Skandjuice & Food Denmark A/S (www.skandjuice.dk)
is a company primarily focused on grocery distribution and logistics for other parties engaged in the sale of consumables and beverages (beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks and juice), particularly to the airline and shipping industries. Skandjuice’s main expertise is logistics and offering safe, secure and effective delivery is what they are all about. Skandjuice delivers goods to all major airports in Scandinavia;
Tango y Vinos (www.malbecvin.dk)
is a Danish company specialising in the import of wines from Argentina. Aside from the import side of the business, the company has a genuine Argentine wine bar in the heart of Copenhagen, right next to "Nyhavn". While being a very popular wine bar and restaurant, it also offers wine tastings, company functions and tango evenings. Cooperation with Suppliers
Elixir Wine is very careful in its choice of suppliers with the aim of establishing a long term and close working relationship. The aim of the company is to meet all parties’ expectations through direct, open and effective communication. Elixir Wine promotes two-way communication with its suppliers in order to both give and receive advice and product support in order develop the products on offer and the related packaging such that bother are better targeted towards the Swedish market. Together with its suppliers, Elixir Wine aims to provide customers with greater access to product information, news and updates relating to trends in the market.
